The Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet Bay 5k returns to Peninsula State Park on Saturday, May 6th, 2023!

There’s no better place for runners to stay than Bay Breeze Resort. We love runners – and you’ll love your race weekend experience with us! You can’t find lodging closer to the starting line. Bay Breeze is located just a short walk from the Ephraim entrance to Peninsula State Park and a 10 minute drive from the starting line. Better yet, you don’t have to worry about parking or finding your way through the park – the Half Marathon shuttle stops at Bay Breeze on race morning, dropping you off directly at the Runner’s Concourse and returning you to Bay Breeze after the race.

Friday night’s Packet Pickup is just 8 miles away at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. At check-in at Bay Breeze Resort you’ll be welcomed by a spread of oatmeal, fruit, water bottles and sweet treats – dig in!

After you’ve crossed the finish line, shuttles are available to take you right back to Bay Breeze where you can shower (the ultimate Kohler rain shower experience comes highly recommended!) before you head to the post-race parties to celebrate your hard work.

Half Marathon Weekend To-Do List

The race is just part of your half marathon experience in Door County. On race weekend, shops, restaurants and hotels open their doors to welcome runners. Here are a few must-dos on your weekend visit to The Door:

PASTA & PIZZA

Pre-race pasta dinner specials are offered Friday night at several of the best restaurants around. The wood-fired pizza at Wild Tomato in Fish Creek and Sister Bay is unique and delicious. If you love mushrooms, try the Fun Guy pizza!

Martini on Counter in Front of Bowling Alley

MEMORABLE MEAL

An old fashioned at Sister Bay Bowl will take you back to the days of a true Wisconsin supper club. A local favorite for more than 50 years, The Bowl is known for its perch fry, steaks, ribs and friendly service. Roll a game on their vintage six lane bowling alley!

GREAT EGGS & HOT COFFEE

The breakfast burritos next door to Bay Breeze at Good Eggs are filling and delicious. Download their iPhone app, order from your phone and pick-up in your pajamas! Caffeinate your morning with coffee from Ephraim Coffee Lab.

SPECTACULAR SUNSETS

Just north of Bay Breeze you’ll find the iconic Anderson Dock, home to the Hardy Gallery. Swing by at sunset for a photo you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

COCKTAILS OUTDOORS

The new outdoor bar at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant, Stabbur Beer Garden, has become a favorite of locals and visitors alike, with a huge craft beer selection, great cocktails and yard games for the family. Try the Malmo Mule!

CAVE POINT COUNTY PARK

Though a bit of a drive to get to, it’s a scenic one. Located near Sturgeon Bay on the Lake Michigan side of the county, Cave Point is one of the most-photographed spots on the peninsula and an awe-inspiring site.
